Material Girls donates quilts to Starting Point

  • DateSeptember 20, 2017

CONWAY — Starting Point recently received a donation of several quilts from the Material Girls quilting group of the Mount Washington Valley. The “Butterflies Are Free” quilt will be hung in the adult room at the Starting Point shelter for all to enjoy. The other quilts will be part of a welcoming package for victims entering shelter and for survivors moving out of shelter into their own place.

Starting Point has been providing crisis intervention for all of Carroll County for the past 35 years. Trends in the field indicate that when an agency like Starting Point provides on-going services to people who have experienced domestic violence the incidence of violence is reduced.

Starting Point is focusing its attention of this research and working to provide more on-going support to help victims and their children transition from crisis into sustainable and healthy living situations. Knowing that community members have donated their time and goods helps victims feel less isolate and supports their transition.
